Western North Carolina is full of waterfalls, literlly 1000s of them are scattered around the mountains of Wester NC. Rainbow falls is one of the most spectacular falls in the area. Silver Run Falls is excellent for swimming in the summer. Turtleback falls is beautiful with a plunge pool. Whitewater falls is the highest east of the Rockies. Panther Town has numerous falls. Whiteside Mountain Trail has the highest vertical drop in the US. Chattoga River Trail has an iron bridge and scenic river trails.
